How to manage anxiety using Yoga Breathing Practices

A natural approach to positively change the way you feel.

Is anxiety interfering with your daily life?

Do you ever feel:

  • emotions of overwhelm, worry, or fear that each day brings?
  • the thousands of thoughts that constantly repeat themselves?
  • pressure, a sense of being out of control?
  • trouble focusing your attention and concentrating?
  • physical symptoms like shortness of breath, heart racing, stomach upset, tight muscles in the neck and shoulders?
  • tired and unmotivated to do the things you used to love to do?
  • difficulty with relationships, work, play?
  • setting and managing priorities is a challenge?

You don’t have to live with anxiety!

ANXIETY

When anxiety is not normal

It’s normal to experience uncertainty to some extent like worrying about job interviews, tests, deadlines, and finances. However, it’s not normal to suffer with anxiety. Do you find yourself unable to turn off the racing thoughts associated with anxiety leading to lack of sleep, feelings of being constantly tired, exhausted and unmotivated? Often this leads to further troubles with focus and concentration at work, school, home or other activities. Sometimes the fast breathing associated with anxiety can lead you to feel like you can’t breathe, your heart is racing and a feeling of panic or confusion as to whether you are having a heart attack.

There is no shame in admitting you have anxiety. In fact, it is common. Anxiety disorders affect nearly 1 in 5 American adults each year. Change is possible and can occur quicker than you think. You can take control of how you feel!

The good news

The good news is that most anxiety disorders can get better with talk therapy, medications, or complementary therapies like yoga. Since the 1970’s numerous research studies have shown the efficacy of yoga, meditation and other stress reduction techniques as treatments for anxiety. Through the use of movement, breathing practices, relaxation and meditation you can improve your body’s ability to respond to stress and anxiety.

By the end of the course you will understand what the autonomic nervous system is and its important role in regulating our body and mind’s ability to handle stressful situations and to relax as well. Both are necessary for optimal health.

Modules

The course includes 4 Modules. Each module has 4 lessons and includes an introduction, two educational lessons, and a practice lesson.
Each module has a segment called “Train Your Brain to Retain the Yoga Skills”. You will be practicing the breathing skills multiple times in each module. It’s the repetition of these breathing practices that will gradually allow your autonomic nervous system to adapt to a calmer state.

As part of the course there is a custom crafted journal for you to download and print out. This will help you remember and reinforce the practices that are most beneficial to you.

This is a work at your own pace course.

Lessons are delivered as videos for you to follow and listen to and serve as educational tools for both learning the breathing techniques and for regular practice.
You will have on-going access to these video/audio breathing practices after the course is completed. The goal is to provide you tools and support to practice at home on a regular basis.
