This workshop is for mental health and wellness professionals who want to weave yoga, mindfulness, and meditation techniques into your clinical or wellness practices. These skills can be used for yourself or your clients.
Do you have clients who seem to be “holding on” to their problems? Is their progress slower than you anticipated? Is their mental state coinciding with physical ailments such as headaches, muscle aches, stomach upset, constipation, or pain?
Mind-Body practices are becoming an integral part of treatment for mental health conditions. Talk therapy is a well-known top-down approach to therapy. Bottom-up approaches are proving to be equally effective. Put the two together and you have a powerful pair to treat both the body and the mind.
Mindful Breathing, Relaxation & Meditation
When people come to me for yoga therapy, they are often struggling with stress, anxiety, depression and pain. At times they turn to yoga therapy as a last resort because medications and talk therapy alone are not creating the desired change. The missing link is the afferent approach of using the body as a catalyst to changes in the brain. Yoga and mindfulness are paving the way via the vagus nerve highway.
Half Day Workshop
This half day workshop for mental health and wellness professionals was designed for you to learn basic yoga breathing practices, relaxation and meditation techniques that you can weave into your clinical or wellness practices.
Therapist Well-being Contributes to Client Well-being
An added bonus is that learning and practicing these skills will contribute to your own self-care. After all you wouldn’t want to try something on a client that you haven’t experienced yourself!
This workshop includes gentle movements, centering techniques, breathing assessment methods, skills to promote long, slow, steady deep breathing, relaxation and meditation – all important aspects of helping to regulate your autonomic nervous system. If you experience this as a therapist it makes it much easier and more authentic to use with your clients.
Nancy’s Qualifications and Global Experience
Nancy gained international qualifications and experience through studying and lecturing at The Minded Institute in London, England, world renowned as a leader in yoga for mental health. Here participants are skillfully guided with important research based principles of yoga, yoga therapy, mindfulness, psychotherapy and neuroscience.
Her experience with studying and teaching yoga spans over 20 years and she has gained the highest qualifications in both Yoga (E-RYT 500 = Yoga Alliance qualified Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher with 500 hours of training and over 1,000 hours of teaching) and Yoga Therapy (C-IAYT = Certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists with over 1,000 hours of additional training and therapeutic client experience).
When Nancy first introduced this workshop in Orlando she had an overwhelming response from mental health professionals. They were thrilled to learn practical applications of gentle movements, breathing, relaxation and meditation.

No yoga experience is needed. The session will be a combination of lecture, discussion and practice. Mats, blankets, bolsters, chairs, and other props to make you comfortable are available.
